Late last year, I submitted a Freedom of Information request to Greater Glasgow and Clyde Health Board. As a result of that, I found out that Inverclyde was without any out of hours GPs for 45 days in a year.
This is an intolerable situation for our community. No GPs means journeys to Paisley in the middle of the night for people who are sick, often at their own expense.
We shouldn’t have to find out about things like this through Freedom of Information. It shows once again why we need to do everything we can to stand up for our local NHS services and the people who work in them.
