People in Inverclyde are already facing frequent closure of our out of hours service and the proposal to downgrade A&E. Now, the SNP Government have cut the amount of money for Winter planning from £2.1 million to £1.047 million. This is at a time when front line NHS services are already under pressure, before we hit the winter. This is what the Health Board say about the cut:
“there is a significant risk to maintaining services over the Winter period, particularly given the high levels of demand currently being experienced. A severe winter will further stretch our ability to respond within available resources.”
I’ve written to the Health Secretary today calling for proper funding for our NHS over the winter period. Proper funding at this critical time could mean the difference between life and death. It is too important to ignore.
