"Instead of more of the same, we need a Labour Government that will stop the cuts, invest in our public services - including providing money for Scotland’s NHS - and take action to raise living standards" Martin McCluskey
Responding to the UK Budget, Martin McCluskey, Labour’s Candidate for Inverclyde said:
“For the past eight years, people across Inverclyde have seen their living standards fall and their wages and pensions have been stretched.
“Because of the botched roll out of Universal Credit, children in Inverclyde have fallen into poverty and thousands now rely on food banks. Unemployment has risen and too many people who want to work can’t find a job. These are the consequences of the Tory Government’s choices.
“Instead of more of the same, we need a Labour Government that will stop the cuts, invest in our public services – including providing money for Scotland’s NHS – and take action to raise living standards.”
Labour’s Shadow Chancellor, John McDonnell, said:
“Inverclyde needs a dramatic change of direction of the kind that Labour set out in its fully costed 2017 manifesto.
“Austerity has failed. Only Labour will rebuild our economy for the many and not the few.”
